Jacksonville Vineyards 2006 Sangiovese

Jacksonville Vineyards 2006 SangioveseJacksonville Vineyards 2006 Estate Grown 100% Sangiovese is Classico! The only Oregon Estate Sangiovese, we have dedicated this outstanding premier wine with a unique celebratory passport label that suggests the globe winning success of this historic “people’s wine”. Blessed with the micro-climate of Tuscany, our hillside Sangiovese vineyard is just 5 acres in size, but gigantic in stature. Overlooking the Applegate Valley floor by 200 feet, with south facing exposure, adjacent a deep forest creek, it delivers the starkly chilly night-time temperatures but basks in the warmth of the long days of summer. This is a vineyard that produces forest berry flavors and a light ruby-stone reflection of color.

At just 12.5% alcohol, and light acid, owner and wine-maker David Palmer aged this wine just 12 months in a mixed cooperage of 100% French oak barrels. Balanced and very agreeable, pour with hearty helpings of pasta and garlic, pizza and tomato based entrays.

Jacksonville Vineyards combines traditional farming with state-of-the-art cellar techniques. At 1600 feet elevation our hand picked grapes grow on well drained, south facing slopes that maximize the warm summer days of the Applegate Valley.
